Experience and Skills

My work in mental health has been varied and rich over the years, from feminist activist work around eating disorders and body image, to creative groups with The Psychosis Therapy Project and Core Arts in London, subversive creative work with people labelled with “personality disorder”, work on a crisis line across Birmingham and Solihull, and then in 1:1 therapy with a range of clients from 18-80 years, of various genders, with a range of issues or reasons for seeking therapy.

My clinical training is in contemporary psychodynamic therapy, which centres the therapeutic relationship that develops between therapist and client and holds that we are impacted in the present by experiences of the past, in ways known and not known to us. However, there is flexibility in my approach which aims at better attending to neurodivergent experiences as well as queer and gender expansive ones, and a valuing of relationship diversity, which has historically been pathologised by more classical psychoanalytic approaches.

I see clients on a weekly basis, at the same day/time, to build a rhythm of reliable and consistent connection that enables us to notice what emerges between us in the relationship as well as to encourage a building of a space that feels safe enough to explore what brings you to therapy.

Though I work in private practice for the most part, to address the exclusivity of this I also work pro-bono half a day per week at the local hospice as a bereavement counsellor.

I am located at Bournville Health Hub on Mondays and welcome enquiries by telephone, text
and email. I offer a free 15 minute introductory phone call to discuss your needs.
