Experience and Skills

Caroline is a humanistic, pluralistic counsellor offering both short-term and long-term therapy. Grounded in person-centred values, the pluralistic dimension to Caroline’s therapeutic approach allows clients to lead the direction of therapy, integrating varied techniques in a collaborative way, to support in navigating life’s challenges and create meaningful change.

Caroline began training as a counsellor following a ten-year career in higher education. She draws on this academic background to inform her practice. Building on research undertaken during her therapeutic training, Caroline has developed a special interest in working with individuals with emetophobia (fear of vomiting in self and/or others). Drawing on both academic insights and personal experience, Caroline offers a personalised approach to working with emetophobia, informed by the latest research and tailored to each client's unique needs.

For the past two years, Caroline has been a counsellor in a local agency, working extensively with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, perfectionism, the impact of neurodiversity, stress, relationship difficulties and questions around identity, amongst other issues. She also works with a national organisation delivering bibliotherapy and creative writing for therapeutic purposes, and welcomes enquiries from clients who wish to incorporate journalling or therapeutic writing into their sessions, alongside more traditional talking therapy.
