Experience and Skills

Caroline trained as a Clinical Psychologist at the University of Birmingham and qualified in 2015. She works both privately and as a Senior Clinical Psychologist within NHS services. As a clinical psychologist she is trained to provide talking therapy/ counselling using a range of evidenced based psychological models, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and  draws on scientific psychological theory and psychoanalytic theory in her practice.

Caroline works with those who are looking to improve their psychological wellbeing, lower their stress levels, find ways to manage low mood, anxiety or phobias, increase their self-esteem, or work towards personal development goals. She also works with those who may be struggling with the emotional or psychological impact of living with a health condition, such as managing fatigue and/ or pain, adjusting to diagnosis or treatment and managing difficult feelings.

Clinical Psychologists are trained to ‘tailor-make’ a course of therapy for clients based on the client’s individual circumstances and difficulties and drawing on the research evidence base, NICE guidelines and the client’s own preferences and requirements. It is really important that the therapy is scientifically robust, as well as tailored to individual needs. It is important to establish a trusting, non-judgemental therapeutic relationship with clients.

Caroline has worked in a range of different NHS services such as learning disability services, mental health teams, older adult services, child and adolescent mental health services and physical health psychology services. She is a supervisor for Trainee Clinical Psychologists, and has lectured on the Clinical Psychology Doctoral course at the University of Birmingham. She holds a current, enhanced level certificate with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and is a registered practitioner psychologist with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Please get in touch if you are considering starting some psychological therapy and would like more information or would like to discuss it further. Starting therapy can be a daunting step and Caroline will support you with this to help you to make the changes that you are seeking in your life.
