Experience and Skills
Jo has a vast amount of experience working within many different areas of mental health with ages 16 plus in a career spanning 10 years.
Her career began as an assistant psychologist supporting people on therapeutic programmes within an outpatient service for addition and general psychiatry. Jo then went onto work on a psychiatric ward and following this worked in NHS iapt services for 6 years whilst completing her accredited training in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy.
Jo’s most recent clinical background involves supporting people with work related stress and burnout in an occupational service. She has enjoyed adapting CBT to enable clients to be equipped with the skills to manage demands and take care of themselves in the process.
The therapeutic relationship is always a natural focus, as every individual is put at ease. Jo is passionate about helping her clients to feel empowered, and less overwhelmed by life’s challenges.
Although CBT is a structured therapy, support offered is tailored to reflect every personal circumstance and treat more complex presentations. Jo is committed to developing her clinical skills and knowledge and has completed training in ACT and compassionate focussed therapies, which she has found particularly beneficial in treating self esteem issues, depression, and trauma.
A recent workshop on compassionate focussed parenting has enabled Jo to help facilitate healthier approaches to balancing parental responsibilities.
As an accredited CBT therapist Jo is registered with BABCP, abiding by the policies and ethical standards set by this regulatory body.
